ONE MAn's trash
is another (WO)man's treasure
My first "real" job out of college resulted from a business owner in Baltimore pulling my resume out of his trash can and passing it on to his friend (yep, back then we still printed and mailed our resumes). So, I guess you could say my career began in the dumps. I spent a few years making the rounds at top Baltimore agencies which included leading publicity tours with Olympia Dukakis and Patti Reagan (where I had to navigate the awkwardness of a fan asking Patti Reagan to sign her Playboy cover) and a marketing stint at a commercial real estate company where I was awarded "Rookie of the Year".
A handful of years later when I realized advertising was my thing, I decided it was time to leave Baltimore and moved to New York City. My mother helped me pack up a U-Haul and my college roommate made the trip with me. As I drove that U-Haul up I-95, I'm not sure if I was more terrified of running it off the road or of what I would discover in this next chapter of my life. That was the Spring of 2000 and since then I have learned from and been mentored by some of the best as a strategic planner for Global advertising agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubicam, Publicis and TracyLocke.
I've cultivated a reputation as a compelling brand storyteller fueled by a masterful use of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Over the years, my strategic work has been recognized by the industry including the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the Jay Chiat and Clio awards, Adweek and Ad Age. I have also been an instructor at Miami Ad School three times.
Post U-Haul drive, one husband, two daughters, three dogs, 1.5 acres in the 'burbs and countless smart, creative and generous colleagues later, I couldn't be happier.
